The chart below shows the movement of people from rural to urban areas in three countries and predictions for future years.

The chart illustrates how many people moving to the city from countryside in Iran, Indonesia and Russia from 2000 to 2025 and a future prediction. Overall, it is clear that all three countries experienced an upward trend in the people moving rural areas to cities. Iran was the highest among these countries and Indonesia accounted for the lowest. In 2000, Iran was the lowest in migration, at about 5 million people. It experienced a gradual increase until 2005, at just under 10 million, after which it witnessed a dramatic rise in the number of people moving to urban areas and it is estimated that it will continue increasing to hit a high point of around 100 million people in 2025. Meanwhile, the figure for Indonesia was around 10 million which was followed by a steady increase until 2020, at about 30 million. After which point, it will remain relatively stable, at 30 million by the final year. In the early 2000, the figure for Russia for people who is migrating to cities was the highest, at around 15 million and this was followed by a gradual increase until 2010, at around 45 million. There was a significant incline can be seen for the next 5 year followed by a steady increase and will be the second highest country by 2025, at just under 90 million.
