The table illustrates the percentage of population and wealth shares by region. There was a significant difference between population shares and wealth shares.
In North America, there was only 5 percent of world’s population, but the global wealth shares in this region was remarkably high at nearly 35 percent. Likewise, even though Europe’s population was considered 15 percent of global population, Europe had 30 percent of global wealth shares. Rice Asia-Pacific region also follow the same pattern as North America and Europe. Rice Asia-Pacific had only 5 percent of world’s population, but its wealth share was significantly high at nearly 25 percent of world’s wealth.
Although there were very high global population percentages in Latin America and Caribbean, Africa, China, India, and other Asia-Pacific, their distributions of wealth were notably low, especially in China and India. In China, its population was considered approximate 22 percent of world’s population, but its growth’s share was only 3 percent. Similarly, India had 15 percent of local population, but it shared only 1 percent of global’s wealth.
Overall, world’s wealth shares was significantly concentrated in North America, Europe, and Rich Asia-Pacific, while other regions’ wealth share were insignificant.
