The chart below depicts the number of gold, silver and bronze Olympic medals won by 12 countries. At a glance, we can easily say that the USA is at a leading with a considerable margin in all three types of medals. in second place is the Soviet Union which also shows a commendable margin from its close competitor, the United Kingdom. However, Germany is right behind the UK in 4th place and Italy at 5th place by a very close margin. However, the number of gold medals won by Italy exceeds the number won by Germany. The amount of Gold medals won by USA and soviet union is much higher in comparison to the rest of the countries that follow suit. And the difference in the gold medals won by the rest of the countries are at a minimum in comparison to each other. Meanwhile, if we compare the total number of medals won with their types, countries such as east Germany, Hungary & China has won more gold medals than Sweden and Australia who are leading with the total number of medals won.
