The below diagrams represent the design for a wave-energy device and it's location.
Overall, the wave- energy machine consist of three major parts namely electricity generator, turbine and chambers. The location of a wave-energy machine can either cost high installation cost or low installation cost, and it can be decided on the basis of amount of output energy required.
In terms of functioning of a wave-generator, firstly the device is placed in the area, which produces large number of waves in the water. As the water fills in the bottom chamber of the machine, air is pushed upwards resulting the rotation of turbine propellers, which is in the top chamber of the device. By the rotation of the turbine wings air is pushed downward as well which initiates the cycle of air flowing from downward chamber to upper chamber. Air can also enter from the top left side the chamber acting as external source of air. The turbine is directly connected to the electricity generator, which generates energy by using the motion of the turbine.
The location of a wave energy device can be decided by considering the amount of energy required. For low energy output machine can be placed in the area which has low tide frequency, whereas for high energy it can be placed in the area with large waves. The installation cost for high energy output is more whereas it is low for small energy production purposes.
