Two tables describe the sales of Fairtrade- labelled coffee and bananas on five different European countries during the period of 1999 and 2004.
Overall, coffee business had an increasing trend while there was a similar growing pattern on bananas sales excepting Belgium and Sweden sales. However, the UK had a significant business growing on both coffee and bananas in the given period.
In 1999, coffee sales was 1. 5 million of euros in the UK then this figure increased more than 10 fold and reached 20 million of euros in 2004 while in Switzerland this coffee sales was growth double, 6 million euros in 2004. Although, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden had a slight improvement on its coffee sales in the end of given period.
In comparison, the UK had a considerable growth on bananas sales, rising from 15 million of euros in 1999 to 47 in 2004 while Switzerland and Denmark also increased approximately five fold on its bananas trading 5. 5 and 4 million of euros respectively. On the other hand, bananas sales reduced around half of its sales in Sweden at 0. 9 million euros whereas in Belgium this sales dropped slightly by 0. 8 in 2004.
