The bar chart illustrates the use of cheques and electronic payments in New Zealand between 1993 and 2003. Summarise the information by reporting and selecting the main features of the graph and making appropriate comparisons where relevant.

The chart provides with information about some kinds of payments (direct debit card, credit card) from 1993 to 2003 in New Zealand. Overall, in the past cheques were widespread and they reached a peak until 55 percent during ten years. However, from 1998 to 2003 direct debit card is started to be famous. Cheques outnumbered direct debit card, credit card in 1993, but over the years they started to decrease slightly and in 2003 cheques reached its lowest point ( approximately 12-13 percent). Furthermore, credit card had the lowest percentage among cheques and direct debit card between 1993 to 2003. Over a period of ten years, credit card fluctuated and in 2003 it is remained until 18 percent. Moreover, direct debit card in 1993 has only 8 percent and it started to rise every year and outnumbered all kinds of payments in 2003, except for 1997, where direct debit card fell steadly until 22 percent.
