The bar chart illustrates the proportion of reasons why people befriend and unfriend relationships on a renowned social media site.
At the first glance, it is obvious that the public usually make friends with people who are known in real life or have mutual friends. Meanwhile, most humans break friendship connections when someone gives offensive comments or basically they do not know well about this person.
The majority of people agreed to befriend a connection because they knew them in real life or they had mutual friends, with approximately 80% and 58% agreeing, respectively. However, reasons such as business networks come in at around 9%, attractiveness comes in at around 8%, and increasing friend count comes in at around 7%.
In terms of unfriending a connection, offensive comments account for approximately 56% of the reasons, with lack of interaction accounting for approximately 20% of the reasons. Depressing comments came in second from the bottom, with a slight difference in support compared to the least supported reason, around 22%. In addition to the three previously mentioned reasons, there are two more: don't know well around 43% and are trying to sell something around 38%.
