Generally speaking, both sexes watched TV more as they got older, whereas females usually spent more time watching TV with the notable exception of the 4- to 15-year-old age group. More specifically, both genders from the four to fifteen age group watched television approximately 16 hours per week, while the oldest age group (65&over) spent slightly over 35 hours watching television, a difference of 19 hours. 16-to-64-year-old women used their time watching TV more than men did. The amount of time spent watching TV by males and females from 45 to 65&over age groups increased over this time period except 65-and-over-year-old women. One interesting point to note is that the figures for both genders from the 65&over age group were the same in 1999.
