Overall, not only residents but also non-residents car using regarding journey into the city centre decreased during the period.
First of all, the value of the residents’ car using stayed around 9500 in the first 4 years when non-residents’ increased consistently in same years. Afterwards, parking meters were started to use in 2000 and it decreased residents’ using from around 9500 to 5000. On the other hand, this parking meters didn’t affect the number of non-resident, which means it remained stable with approximately 8000 people between 2000 and 2002. In addition, in same years, the car use ıf the residents were 5000 people by slightly decreasing to around 4500 in 2001.
Furthermore, Westgate Street and Park Lane closed to traffic in 2003 and although it decreased dramatically non-residents’ car journeys which went down from just above 8000 to nearly 3000 in 2003, in following years it went up to around 5000 in 2005. Besides the value of the residents’ stayed at just under 4000 between 2003-2005, slightly falling to 3500 in 2004.
