The data depicts the percentage of people in Great Britain who lived independently by age and gender during the period of 2004-2005. Overall, both sexes lived by themselves as they grow older and fewer teenagers to middle-aged females did than males, although this trend reversed as age increased. Looking at the graph, females aged 75 and over had the contribution of approximately 59% while the percentage for male was around 27%. Additionally, the 65-74 age group saw a similar trend as the percentage of alone females almost doubled compared to the percentage of alone males, which was about 32% and 17% respectively. In contrast, there were more males who chose to live alone at lower ages. There was a slightly higher percentage of males than females who lived by themselves in the 16-24 and 45-64 age groups with about 5% and 17%, while for females it was 4% and 15% all respectively. It is worth noticing that the percentage of males who lived alone stabilized since the age of 25-44 with approximately 15%, whereas percent for female were 9%
