The line graph illustrates how much goods were transported from 1974 to 2002 in the UK. Units are measured in million tonnes. Overall, road accounted for the highest transported goods in the UK from 1974 to 2002 while pipeline the lowest. It is noticeable from the graph that all categories except rail had enjoyed a marked increase over that period. Thereby, bringing the net amount of transported good to approximately 220 million tonnes in 2002 from just 155 in 1974. Of all the transported goods, the amount of transported road had the most dramatic rise. Similarly, the amount of transported pipeline had quadrupled, from approximately 5 million tonnes to over 20%. In terms of water and rail, both had started at around 40 million tonnes. While the amount of transported water saw a few steady increases over that time period, the amount of transported rail, on the other hand, had some minor decreases and troughed in 1995 at about 30 million tonnes.
