The graph illustrates the consuming of 3 spreads (margarine, low fat & reduced spreads, butter) from 1981 to 2007 in grams. Overall the consumption of butter was much higher than margarine in the eighties, while low & reduced spreads weren’t used entirely. In the nineties the butter usage was lower than margarine one and at the end of this decade low & reduced spreads started to be used. In the two-thousands the consumption of spreads in general was becoming lower than in the eighties and nineties, especially as for margarine. From 1981 to the end of the nineties only butter and margarine were used. The consumption of margarine in 1981 was lower than butter — about 90 and 140 grams respectively. In 1986 there was a slight dip in the usage of margarine to 80 grams, but the usage of butter was the highest (around 160 grams). From 1986 the consuming of margarine moderately increased and butter sharply decreased. In 1991 theystraightened. After that the consumption of butter gradually decreased down to 2007, when it was around 50 grams. After a short plateau period from 1991 to 1996 the margarine usage modestly decreased too, and in 2007 it was only 40 grams. Low fat & reduced spreads consumption started onty in 1996 and dramatically increased by 2001 with later moderately decrease to 70 grams in 2007. In 2007 this kind of spreads was used a bit more than butter and margarine — about 70, 50 and 40 grams respectively.
