People carry different views when it comes to stop crime. Some of them think that there should be a prompt action, while others are satisfied with the present situation. In my opinion, the concerned authorities still need to work more to stop the crime productively. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument and provide evidence as to why government’s attention is required to reach the minimum crime rate.
We all commonly hear daily about thefts, domestic violence and murders from media reports. The crime graph is going up and up in most of the cities in British Columbia. A weekly crime report section in ‘The Happenings’ showed that thefts have increased from forty to forty-eight percent since 2019. Similarly, they also published the numbers about alarming in house fights and killings, which were very scary. There could be many reasons behind it, but main point is to lessen the misdeeds.
On the other hand, people who argue that appropriate actions are being taken to reduce the crime rate, have some reasons. Firstly, they are considering the open snatchings, which have gone down. This has happened primarily due to constant police patrolling. For instance, all the persons who enter ‘Surrey Central Mall’ are scanned through hidden cameras. So, if someone reports a lost property, security staff immediately checks the camera and catch the culprit. Secondly, a common person has become more alert about his belongings when he goes out. He carries some advanced technological devices which beep if an unknown entity comes closer.
To recapitulate, there has been a decline in common thefts, but this slow down is negligible as compared to bigger crimes. The concerned staff is required to work more to provide a safe environment for its inhabitants.
