In some countries, teenagers have a part-time job while they still study at school. It is obvious that although there are several potential perks, it also has some drawbacks to working while in high school. On the one side, taking an after-school job has positive development effects on the life of a teenager. First of all, a job can help teenagers better develop a sense of responsibility, a greater sense of self. Besides, it not only improves their identities but also obtains increased autonomy. Moreover, teenagers will add in some precious work experience, which provides them with favorable opportunities. Second, working alongside studies would help teenagers learn to manage money and understand personal finance. In addition, they gradually live independently with their parents, so they must calculate their expenses carefully and reasonably. In the long run, they will be flexible in spending, know how to be economical, even have a small amount of capital for future goals. On the flip side, doing a part-time job while teenagers are still studying has numerous hindrances. First of all, they will distract their study, even may drop out of their college. Unfortunately, this strongly affects their career prospects since it is quite difficult for someone who does not have a degree to get a well-paid job. Second, their studies plus work never allow them to have more free time and sleep hours. Because of the night shift, they feel drowsy all day and tired, which significantly impacts both their work and study efficiency. In conclusion, teenagers have to balance a social life, work, family, and educational time.
