The bar graphs below show the means of road transport and commuting times for six different European countries (Denmark, France, Italy, UK, Germany and Spain) and their average.
Overall, EU countries preferred the car rather than other means, like the train, the bus or the bike. The EU average per year was 10, 000 km for the car in comparison to slightly over 1, 000 km for other transport means. Commuting time for these EU countries was in average just over 30 minutes per day.
As regards the car, Denmark was the country which used it more, surpassing the 12, 000 km a year. On the other hand, Spain reported the least use for the car, with aproximately 8, 000 km per year.
Denmark was also the country that used more other transport means, arriving to 3, 000 km per year, as opposite to UK which only used them just under 1, 000 km per year.
