Overall, it can be clearly seen that The University of Lakewood witnessed a downward trend during the period while the figures for the three remaining colleges increased in general. Meanwhile, Atherton University remained the most well-known among the four colleges surveyed.
Commencing at 4, 500 and 2, 400 in 1980, the number of applicants received by Atherton University and Alstead University underwent a significant increase in the following 30 years and finished the period at over 6, 000 and 4, 000 applications respectively, which were the highest numbers in 2010. Similarly, there was a steady rise in the figure for Lindslade College. Between 1980 and 2010, the number of students admitted to Lindslade College went up and down erratically and finally ended the period at 3, 000 applications which were 400 units higher than in 1980.
On the other hand, Lakewood University experienced a dramatic drop in the number of students applied in the 30-year period. Starting at about 4, 800 units in 1980, the figure for Lakewood declined by a fourth in the following five years before continuing to plummet and bottom out at 2, 500 applications, then become the least popular among four universities.
