As can be seen, American citizens got married more than having annulled a marriage. It is noticeable that there was a steady fall of marriages from 2. 5 million to 2 million between 1980 and 2000. Nevertheless, divorces increased over the first decade and then slightly decreased ending in 2000 at approximately 1 million. Moreover, for each decade, the figure of marriages around double that of divorces. In the two of the years, there were two marital-status trends of the Americans; upward and downward.
