The chart here illustrates the process of manufacturing sugar from a plant known as sugar cane. The process involves seven major steps from beginning to the end.
Firstly, sugar canes are planted and nurtured for about 12 to 18 months. Initially the land is ploughed and prepared for sowing and then the rudimentary plants are looked after by farmers to prevent any potential parasite attack, until they are fully matured for harvesting. Subsequently, the second step involves harvesting, which can be automated using fancy machinery or can be achieved by using human labour. Both of these techniques seems to serve the purpose pretty well however the manufactures are supposed to analyze which method is more efficient and cost-effective. In the third stage canes are subjected to crushing, in a heavy equipment, in order to extract the juice. During the fourth phase, the extract is filtered through limestone for purification. The clean and clear liquor is then boiled in an evaporator as this fifth stage in the cycle is meant to convert dilute liquid into concentrated syrup. In the following step, syrup is centrifuged. This leads to the separation of sugar crystals from the suspension (syrup). Finally, these sweet crystals are dried and cooled in a container. The sugar is now ready to be supplied!
