The diagram depicts the life cycle of undegradable things, namely glass and plastic containers with four important steps which are involving collecting, sorting, crushing or shredding, washing, melting& reshaping. Those will be outlined in the next following paragraphs.
The process is begun with collecting the used glass and plastic containers for about 3 to 8 weeks which is continued by transporting the stuff to the recycling center. This process takes 5 to 10 days. After that, sort out the stuff based on its raw material is the next process. The glass is grouped and classified by color, meanwhile, the plastic containers are assorted by thickness and quality. Then, the plastic containers are being bundled.
Both glass and plastic need to be changed into smaller pieces using a crusher for glass and a shredder for plastic. Afterward, they are washed and melted before go on to the following step which is called reshaping.
Plastic is melted and reshaped in the same machine, whereas this process occurs in separate machines. Melting and reshaping are the last procedures that are conducted before new products of glass and plastic containers are distributed to the customers.
