The table illustrated the number of immigrants to New Zealand from five countries including Britain, China, India, South Africa, and Fiji, between 2001 and 2004. As can be seen from the chart, while the number of British people moving to New Zealand had increased, the country witnessed a decrease in the number of newcomers originating from South Africa and Fiji. In 2002, China holds the top position in the immigration statistic of New Zealand with above 8000 people, slightly higher than the figure of India. The third-place belonged to Britain with more than 6000 immigrants, one and a half times that of South Africa, while Fiji ranked the last with around 3000. This situation was continued in 2003, as the top three countries remained in their positions. The interesting point is that South Africa and Fiji shared the same ranking at above 2000 people.
