I live in a family of four: my parents, my younger brother and me. Both my parents work to support my family. Their incomes are similar so they are very busy and they don’t want to stop their careers to handle the household chores. Therefore, we have to hire a domestic worker. However, the coronavirus was broken up and too much
social-distancing are applied, my parents couldn’t continue their jobs in normal. This is the time we decided that we didn’t need to hire the domestic worker and all the houseworks in family are divided all members equally. Being a man in family, my dad does the heavy lifting. He mends thing around the house, cleans the bathroom once a week; especially, he is a person who prepares all breakfast for my family that I realized my father can cook very well as a master chef. The household duties for my mum are less than my father. Because she is still managing something about her job. She always shops for groceries, waters the plants, and does the washing-up when there are many dishes need to wash and I can’t do it. My parents are responsible for helping my brother and me in learning. I don’t have quarrels with my brother over chores, we do our share of housework willingly. I do the laundry, take out the rubbishes, clean the windows and the house once a week on Sunday, cook the lunch and dinner, and do the washing - up everyday. My younger brother is responsible for sweeping the floor daily, tidying up his room, folding and hanging up the laundry. Besides those housework, my brother and I take turns laying the table for meals, feeding the dog and raking the leaves in front of my house. It’s just beginning a few months but all members in my family feel very excited and ecstatic. We understand each other better, decrease many arguments about the small problems, we laugh more and then both mum and dad decided to keep this situation forever. In conclusion, “many hands make light work” can make all family in the world to become happier.
