The line graph compares population of India and China from 2000 until now, as well as the predicted figures until 2050. Overall, while India's population is expected to continue growing, the number of Chinese citizens will drop in the future. In addition, predictions show that the number of Indians will surpass the Chinese in near future. In 2000, India had exactly one billion citizens, while this figure was about 250 million higher for China. Even though both populations had an upwards trend, the rise rate of Indian population was much faster than of China's. As a result, by 2020, the gap between the number of citizens had dropped to only around 100 million, with China and India having approximately 1. 325 and 1. 425 billion citizens respectively. The predictions show end of rising trend for China in late 2020s before entering the decline period. Indian population, however, is expected to grow, albeit at a slower rate. Consequently, 2030 will witness both nations having the same number of members, 1. 45 billion. By the end of the period, it is expected that Indian population will peak at 1. 6 billion, while the Chinese citizens will be slightly less than 1. 4 billion.
