Do you know what the prospect of 1930 looked like? How are people treated to each other? To be more clear, how the society treated women. During 1930 to 1940, the rate of employed women in the US increased 24% from 10. 5 million to 13 million. The reason for that is because the jobs that are called “women’s work” - have less impact in the stock market. From then we can see that women in that period were not valuable in more important jobs. We can use the phrase “ to value men above women” in that period. Of mice and men is a famous novella of John Steinbeck reflecting on American society in the 1930s to 1940s. The woman in question does not seem to have a name in the story, only to be called Curley's wife (a character's wife), and can see that women were not much appreciated or important. Women in previous years were not valued as well as men because they were not as strong as men, considered irresponsible to take on big things. Although it has decreased, there are still some countries and families still keeping that thought. Even so, they deserve to receive good things, not the disparaging eyes of society. So far gender equity has been exercised in its own right, bringing justice to both men and women. Steinbeck's novella reflects exactly what happened at that time. Although the wife in the work only plays a very small role, she has many great meanings. The story shows only one woman, along with loneliness that no one knows. On the outside, everyone might think that she was a happy woman, but on the inside, no one knew exactly how they were.
