Disadvantages of computer and technology

Nowadays, computers and technology play important roles on a daily basis. Although there are many benefits that we can easily list, they have some drawbacks that we should take into consideration. Firstly, children spending a lot of time on the computer could be addicted to online games. This would make them not focus on their study, such that they could have bad performance at school. Moreover, game addiction could make children isolate themselves and could not broaden their horizons. Therefore, they would not improve themselves and achieve success in the future. Secondly, living in a high-technology country exposes the citizens to the risk of not being good at researching. Therefore, many big companies are trying to introduce more robotics and automation to limit human interactions with repetitive tasks. This has raised the concerns of unemployment to those who might have not acquired the real-life and hands-on experiences of the job such as students studying in higher education. Finally, the dependency level of humans on computers may increase overtime. For instance, students in school are more dependent on calculators for basic computation, and depend on computer software to draw charts without understanding how to make one by hand. This could cause them to not think critically in researching. Day by day, they would eventually rely on computers to perform everything in their life without questioning how to do it themselves. In conclusion, although computers and technology have proven to be an indispensable part of our lives, they also bring the unforeseen consequences that we need to carefully consider. Personally, I think that we should consider the optimal time for computer usage everyday, such that we could limit our dependency level to a point that we are most comfortable with, not to entirely rely on it.
