consumption of spreads over the years in grams
consumption of spreads over the years in grams PRKmg
The line graph illustrates the level and the movement of consumption of different kinds of spreads: margarine, butter and low fat spread over the years from 1981 to 2007. The y-axis has the grams of consumption and the x-axis has the years.
Margarine and butter were consumed from 1981 onwards while the consumption of low fat and reduced spreads started in 1996. In 1981, consumption of butter was at 142 and margarine was at 90. All spreads were still consumed in 2007, with margarine having the lowest number of consumption of 40, butter with around 50, and low fat and reduced spreads being the highest out of all of around 70.
From 1981 to 1986, butter consumption has increased while margarine consumption has fallen. This trend has reversed from 1986 to 1991, where margarine consumption shows a climb with butter consumption dropping significantly.
From 1991 to 1996, margarine consumption was constant while butter consumption still continues to go down. 1996 was also the year when low fat and reduced spreads were introduced. From then, it had undergone a dramatic increase leading to a peaked level of consumption in 2001 while margarine and butter fell. From 2001 to 2007, all spreads faced a declined level of consumption with margarine being the steepest.
