Changes to the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre between 1980 and 2008

The maps illustrate changes that took place in the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre across the two years: 1980 and 2008. Essentially, the centre increased its number of stores and services, as well as improved the transportation system. In 1980, a clothing store was positioned centrally with other stocks surrounding and an auto shop situated above it. On the west side, a department store was placed, facing a cinema below. A restaurant was added to the right side of the clothing store with plenty of parking slots on both levels. Most access was provided by the service tunnels, meanwhile, the main access came from the east-west highway to the southern. By 2008, various developments were added to both the shopping centre and transport connections. The space which had been used for lower parking was converted to a complex of a shoe store, pharmacy and cosmetic shop. Apart from that, with the restaurant having been demolished, a new food court was placed in its absence. As the auto shop disappered to the north, on the southern edge, a bank, an Italian restaurant and a bicycle shop appeared. Noticably, the east-west highway was upgraded with a pedestrian bridge linking the metro station, along with its own shops, to the centre.
