Plagiarism refers to representing someone else’s work, ideas, maps, graphs, plans etc. and claiming them as one’s own. It can be copying another author’s words or thoughts that have been written or even spoken on any event by him. It is considered an offence in many of the countries and has certain laws towards it. It generally deprives the potential person of getting credited and makes the plagiarist flaunt before the authorities. Anyhow it is theft as you steal someone’s intellectual property the same way you steal in a robbery. Copyright laws have been enforced for plagiarism so that justice can be provided to the actual owner. Infringement of intellectual property is punishable by fines and even incarceration.
