According to the bar chart illustrated, it shows the percentage of teachers by gender male and female in some different types of educational settings in UK in 2010. There are six types of educational settings including nursery/pre-school, primary school, secondary school, college, private training institute and university.
As it is obvious from the bar chart, the percentage of women is decreasing while the education levels are going higher from pre-school to the university. However, the percentage for male teachers are completely vise-versa where the percentage of pre-school are in the lowest and it is the highest for university level.
For three educational settings the percentage of female teachers are more than 50 percent which includes nursery/pre-school, primary school and secondary school and the percentage for college is equal to male teachers around 50 percent. Additionally, the private training institute and university educational settings are having fewer female teacher less than 50 percent.
In the other hand, a few male teachers are playing a role in the nursery/pre-school level compare to female ones which is around 5 percent. The primary school also is showing that the percentage of male teachers are lower than 10 percent. Moreover, for the secondary school, college and private training institute the percentage of male teachers are around 45, 50 and 55 percent respectively. Additionally, the percentage of male teachers for university level is the highest around 70 percent.
Overall, the chart shows that higher educational settings are more male-dominated. However, women have a significant presence in the nursery/pre-school level.
