As we can see from the charts, while the value of trade between Australia and the US has not witnessed many variances, that of Japan and China saw the numbers fluctuating significantly.
The value of exports from Australia to Japan stood at 40 billion in 2002 and experienced minimal changes for the first 3 years. Afterwards, the figure rocketed, and peaked at 62 billion in the middle of 2006, before plunging down to 45 billion by 2008. China and the US’ numbers remained steady throughout the given period, both hovering around 40 billion dollars.
In the year 2002, the figue’s regarding Japan and China’s imports started around 30 to 35 billion dollars, before simultaneously dropping down to 20 and 25 billion dollars respectively in 2005. The preceding 3 year, however, saw a divergence in the trends with China seeing a significant recovery up to 43 billion dollars, while Japan’s statistics showed no changes.
