Task 2: mobile phones impact our relationships, make people more disconnected rather than connected? pR9qD
Mobile phones are a technological tool that is being frequently used by individuals all over the world. This usage is the new trend, for it has been impacting and disconnecting relationships instead of offering and supporting connections. However, I am a strong advocate for this approach and the reasons will be covered in this essay. To commence, these portable devices that are being used almost by everyone, are extremely dangerous for society. In other words, lately, they have been blocking face-to-face communication between its users. A good illustration of this is a recent study shows that most of the individuals, who communicate by mobile phones, are failing to participate in direct conversations. Moreover, this trend is a huge distraction for every human being, for it has been isolating its users instead of encouraging them to socialize. Therefore, these electronic devices have myriads of impacts on social life. Another compelling reason is that a mobile phone engenders mental problems, which can be seriously detrimental to relationships. This tool can easily become an addiction due to its excessive and continuous usage. Consequently, they will refuse any kind of help and this will lower the quality of relationships between humans. Furthermore, depression occurs because smartphones can actually damage things specially between couples. For instance, my sister, who is a heavy user of this device, used to fight on a daily basis with her partner since she preferred to interact with him virtually. Hence, mobile phones led to affect the bond of any relationship. To conclude, this ubiquitous trend has been effectively disconnecting and distancing individuals from each other instead of reuniting them and enforcing a better connection. They have been socially and mentally damaging relationships by imposing a failed communication system, a distraction, addiction problems and depression. From my point of view, I certainly agree that using mobile phones are not beneficial for relationships at all. As well, I beleive that social campaigns are highly recommended to increase awareness and responsibility level.
