Some people think computers are more important in education. Others believe teachers play a more important role. VQXP7
People have different views about which factors play a crucial role in education. While some people argue that computers are more necessary to help students’ studies, I believe that teachers are better. On the one hand, there are those who claim that students will perform significantly better with the assistance from computers. Firstly, as computers can connect to the Internet, it is easier for students to have access to various sources of information. As a result, students could gain deep knowledge of different fields. Without computers, their knowledge would be narrowed and limited. Secondly, computers provide classes with visual aids such as clips and pictures, which contributes to interesting lectures and attracting students’ attention. If there are only professors teaching in classes, it would be boring and monotonous. Finally, because of a variety of applications on computers, learners find it more convenient and faster to finish their works, which helps them to have quality study results. For instance, students can use Word and Powerpoint to text and add pictures to their presentation slides. On the other hand, I agree with those who believe that teacher cannot be replaced. Primarily, students usually receive feedback from teachers when learning face-to-face. This helps them to figure out their weaknesses and improve them immediately, which results in better academic performance. For example, English teachers can find out students’ pronunciation mistakes and help them to fix it. In addition, since students are always carefully supervised by their teachers, they would receive considerable encouragement and motivation to highly concentrate on their studies. If students learn with computers, their studies may be interrupted by other factors such as games and social media sites. Moreover, because of teachers’ flexible teaching methods, they will know which lectures may be suitable for each student. This could ensure that every student can understand lessons clearly. In conclusion, while computers are beneficial to students to some extent, I am in favor of the idea that teachers play the most important roles in education.
