Some People Believe That University Students Should Pay All The Cost of Studies Because University Education Only Benefits The Students Themselves

In this day and age, more and more contemporary attention has been placed on the opinion that undergraduates and postgraduates ought to pay all their studies expenses since tertiary education is beneficial to sole individuals but not the society as a whole. From my perspective, I do not subscribe to this school of thought. To begin with, it is necessary for universities to give scholarships to meritorious students instead of asking them to pay all the costs of their studies. Undoubtedly, attracting the most talented students is one of the top priorities of any university in the world because those ones may make many valuable contributions and in the long term, build up a reputation for a university if they are appreciated. In addition, due to the underprivileged background, lots of students with excellent academic performance and other great capabilities may not have a chance to receive territory education and this is definitely a waste of talents, who may become prominent citizens in the future. Therefore, awarding scholarships in this case is completely deserving. I strongly believe that university education may result in huge advantages for both individual and society. For example, if a deserving student can receive scholarships from a medical school, he or she might become an excellent doctor after graduation, having the ability to save thousands of people’s lives. Besides that, financially supported territory university will incentivize more and more adolescents to attend universities, leading to a higher number of educated workforces and this will contribute to developing a more civilized society. In conclusion, with all the reasons mentioned above, undergraduates and postgraduates should be supported financially, especially for talented ones because university education are advantageous to both individuals and society.
