The reading passage emphasizes on negative effects of receiving information and news from electronic devices. The lecturer evidently refutes the claims made in the passage. The first point that the lecturer makes is about the critical thinking which he believes will be improved by reading news and information from electronic media. According to the passage, critical thinking will be disturbed due to the novice views of the author of the information on the internet and also questions the credibility of the information. To which the lecturer responds by saying the due to the different perspectives of the people across the internet about the news, critical thinking of the reader will be improved. Secondly, the passage mentions the negative side effects of electronic devices on people’s health, especially on the eye and brain.
