In many countries today, crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular? What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?

Nowadays, the crime genre and the world that revolves around it has gradually become vastly popular among readers and viewers of all ages. This is mainly because it has an education element associated with it and in my opinion, it portrays the true picture of our society. Crime shows and books have become an integral part of our society. People tend to relate more with the crime and investigation category as they provide thrill and educates receiver on how to tackle or be attentive to such uninvited things happening around them. A popular survey was conducted in India that showed crime novels and shows are the best-selling in recent years, which was not the case in the early 90s as the crime rate was considerably lower than today. Therefore, it goes without saying that these transmissions supersede others in term of public popularity. I am of the opinion that these reports and transmissions focusing on punishable acts are essential for society. As they portray the true and sometimes real side, which involves sin, unlawful acts and criminal undertakings. According to research, 60% of all crime series and books are adapted from real-life tales. Such stories increase awareness amongst the reader and spread a proactive approach towards such unwanted incidents. Hence, they must be part of everyone’s reading archive. In conclusion, the recent increase in the popularity of crime-based shows or articles is directly proportional to how the dynamics of the world has changed. they are more relatable now and increase awareness and proactive approach in society.
