In the contemporary society there are two contrary opinions about which knowledge should be given by a university. Some people tend to consider university as a proper preparation for a workplace with all the required skills, while others anticipate that this educational institution should just give basic theoretical information not necessarily useful for the future job. I believe that depending on a vocation, university can play both roles in people’s education. There are plenty of people who do not have any idea where they are going to work. Keeping them in mind, I assume that it would just be pointless to provide them with practical skills, because in the future they may find this experience a waste of time. For example, if a painter has spent 4 years learning how to draw and use graphic editors and, afterwards, decided to become a dentist, he would probably have to complete another university course. Furthermore, our world develops quite rapidly, new professions appear every day. Consequently, people also change their minds about who they want to become, simply because the profession they have chosen may not be quoted anymore. Looking at this problem from another perspective, there are others who are firmly convinced about where they want to be employed in the future. In this case the best option for them is to apply to the program which would be certainly suitable in terms of practical skills and vocation. In my opinion, this would be extremely useful for those studying medicine, because this is a process that could take up to 8 years, therefore, at some point of life, it can just be challenging to start a career of a doctor. To sum up, in my opinion university should give students valuable skills that may be also used in the future workplace,
