The graph here gives the information on rate at which four different materials were recycled in a particular country, from the year 1982 to 2010.
Overall, it is observed, that though the percentage of the recycling of Aluminum cans was not much, but there has been a steady growth, as compared to other materials like paper and cardboard, and glass containers, which saw a fluctuating growth & Plastics having a very gradual one.
Recycling of Aluminum cans started little later than 1982, but is showed an upward growth and reached almost 45% in 2010. On the other hand even Plastics recycling started much later after 1986, but could reach a percentage of only 8% in these 28 years.
Recycling of Paper & Cardboard stated in 1982 at the highest percentage of almost 65%, but saw a very fluctuating graph, with rising to its peak of 80% in 1994 & then dipping again to 70% in 2010. Whereas, Glass containers, which started at 50% in 1982 saw a dip in earlier years to 40% till 1990, but then had seen a steady growth to 60% recycling by 2010.
