Overall, it is evident that the town has experienced significant housing development, becoming more densely populated and modernized. This has been possible at the expense of the large areas of farmland that once existed. The farmland on both sides of the road no longer exists, and this territory is now dominated by a number of new houses. Also, the two shops between the River Stoke and the main road have been demolished. One more visible change is that the huge mansion in the town center has been turned into a retirement home with two extensions added, and the area of its gardens has been reduced in size to provide space for new homes. However, the other facilities either remain unchanged. The bridge over the river to the north of the town still stands. Another surviving facility is the post office, which is situated by the main road. As for the primary school, it has been made bigger with the addition of two new buildings in order to provide schooling for the growing number of children.
