The two line graphs indicate the proportion of smokers and the alcohol intake in liters per person of four various countries from 1960 to 2000. Overall, all countries saw a decline in smoking, with the United States having the least amount of smokers throughout the 40 years. Alcohol consumption sharply increased in Holland, whereas the US and Turkey saw slight growth in the middle years, but would regress closely back to the original amount in the more recent years. 60% of the population were smokers in Holland during 1960, however, it considerably dropped to roughly 40% in the year 2000. Japan also saw a similar percentage by the year 2000, but the decrease was more gradual as it started from 50% in 1960. The United States had the least amount of smokers at any given point and had a total drop of approximately 20%. Holland had a dramatic spike in alcohol consumption in liters per person, overtaking the United States in the mid 1970s. The average amount consumed was around 4 liters in 1960, but the end result in the most recent year was around 10 liters. Turkey would remain fairly stable as the years passed, having no significant change. The United States peaked at 10 liters in 1980, but gradually reduced to roughly 8 liters again.
