The two diagrams compare the process of purifying water in Australia now and in the future. Overall, it is evident that in the future, stormwater of the city will go through a water treatment plant instead of going into the river to purify. Then, it comes back to the city for consumption. In the present cycle, the pure water is stored in a dam or storage before being transferred to the city then it is used by households, shops, city and, factories. After being used, the stormwater of the city goes directly to the river and the wastewater is sent to the river treatment plant to be processed then it is safe to be released into the water. Regarding the future, the process of being stored and the uses of water is just the same as the previous system. However, the stormwater and wastewater of the city will both go through water treatment for recycling. After being recycled, no water will be released into the river.
