The table below shows the percentage of consumer expenditure of different items in China, Thailand, Japan and Vietnam in 2008. It is clear that consumers in four countries spent the most money on fast food/drinks. Additionally, the figure for leisure activities/ education is the least significant feature during the research period. Looking to China and Japan, the proportion of consumers expenditure in China accounted for 28. 9 percent for fast food/ drinks, compared to 18. 8 percent of Japan in 2008. Meanwhile, the figure for shoes/ watches in China was about three times higher than Japan, made up 16. 23 percent in China, in comparison with only 5. 51 percent of Japan. Besides that, the data of leisure activities/education in China and Japan were equal with 2. 21 percent and 1. 98 percent respectively. At the same time, the percentage of expenditure for fast food/ drinks in Thailand stood at 16. 36 percent, compared to 15. 77 percent of Vietnam. Meanwhile, there was approximate equality in the percentage of money spent on shoes/watches in Thai and Vietnam which occupied by 16. 36 percent and 15. 77 percent respectively.
