the pie chart below shows the main reasons why agricultural land becomes less productive. the table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during the 1990s. lGxQ
The main purpose of the pie chart is to provide information about the reasons that are responsible for the less productive agricultural lands. By the way, the table depicts how these reasons affected the three regions of the world i. e. North America, Europe and Oceania during the 1990s. Firstly, we can observe from the pie chart that overgrazing occupied most of the portion, deforestation with 5 per cent less than overgrazing and almost a quarter was occupied by over-cultivation. In detail, over-grazing was around 35 per cent of the total cause, deforestation is trailing behind with 30 per cent, over-cultivation with 28 per cent and other causes with 7 per cent. Secondly, from the table we can observe that total land degradation was topped by the region Europe, then Oceania and the least was North America. Besides, in particular, deforestation was the major cause of land degradation in the region of Europe with around 9. 8 per cent, later with over-cultivation of 7. 7 per cent and at last overgrazing with 5. 5 per cent. All in all, the European region was more affected than the other two regions, and North America was least affected with 5 per cent. The percentage of land degraded by deforestation and overgrazing was least in North America with 0. 2 per cent and 1. 5 per cent respectively.
