The pictures depict a number of changes which took place in Poulton during a 35 year period starting from 1900.
Looking at the maps, it is readily apparent that Poulton in 1900 was a complex of industrial and residental areas. Besides that, the 1935 witnessed a big renovation to be totally residental feature in Poulton.
In 1900, Poulton’s land was exploited for the cultivation and manufacturing purposes. On the left of Treant Street, a vast terraced houses was planted for crops annual. Futher more, on the top right hand corner, an enormous location called Wasteland was allocated next to a factory for the production activities. Some stores provided residents with essential things on a regular day such as shop, laundry erected at the same side and the opposite was a small café. Wasteland was also expanded on the right of Baley Street which nearby some cottages for labours working in the railway line located at the bottom.
Some big chances was seen in the development of Poulton in 1935. The terraces houses was demolished to make space for two flats. In the middle centre, Bayley Street Park appeared replacing for farmland and accomodations. A new road was also constructed named New Lane and on the right side of the lane was three shops. Café and Laundry were on the same side instead of being oppisite in 1900. Factory was entirely vanished to give place for the presence of two block of flats- Baley and Mansion.
