The number of commuters using different means of transportation in a European urban area over the course of 50 years starting from 1980 m3qQ1
The line graph given demonstrates the number of commuters using different means of transportation in a European urban area over the course of 50 years starting from 1980. Overall, there are two obvious trends visible. While the number of commuters taking subway, trend and bike share is projected to increase throughout the period, that of passengers using bus is likely to experience a downward trend. From 1980 to 2020, the figure for subway and tram users witnessed a remarkable growth from 2. 5 and just under 0. 5 million to 3. 5 and 1. 5 million respectively. Starting at the year 2000, the number of bike share passengers observed a similar tendency from roughly 0. 2 to 0. 5 million. On the other hand, the figure for bus stood at just over 1. 5 million in 1980 and declined to over 1 million in 2020. By 2030, while the number of subway and tram commuters is anticipated to its peak of 4. 5 and 2 million respectively, that of bus passengers is predicted to continue to drop to under 1 million. Although there is a prediction that the figure for bike share will keep rising to approximately 0. 5 million, it will be the least favorite means of transportation of all four examined.
