The line graph illustrates how many library books were read by Starmouth school’s students (divided by sex) between 2009 and 2012.
As can be seen, there was an upward trend in the number of books read by both boys and girls. However, in the last year of the period, girls read much more books than boys and the number of books read by boys fell sharply.
According to the data, in 2009, boys started off reading 50 books which were greater than girls by 20 books. After that, the figure for books used by male readers still increased gradually and reached a peak at 100 in 2011. Similar to girls, the number of books read by them rose significantly from 40 to 100 in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
However, there was a marginal decrease in the number of books read by boys, about 80 in 2012, which was the same as in 2010. In contrast, the number of books read by girls hit the highest point at 140 at the end of the period.
