The line graph shows the number of kilograms of different foods were consumed per person by Australians in the 60 year period from 1939 to 1999.
Overall it is clear that more was eaten in 1999 than in 1939 in all cadegories except meat. Also, vegetables were consumed the most, while seafood was consumed the least throughout this period.
In 1939, 140 kilograms per person of vegetables were consumed and this amount went zig-zag until it changed in 1980. After that, there is a dramatic rose to reach a height of 160 kilograms in 1999. There was a similar trend with the eating of fruit which fluttered at around 80 kilograms until 1959 then rose to 140 kilograms in 1999.
The popularity of bread increased throughout the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s from 40 to about 70 kilograms, which was followed by a gradual declination and then a rise to 60 in the final decade. Seafood consumption was also increased, but only slightly from 18 to 20 kilograms in this period. In contrast, meat consumption reached a peak in the late 1970’s at 120 kilograms, but then fell steady to lowest point of 80 kilograms in 1999.
