The line chart illustrates the sales figures of three various sorts of books: children's books, adult fiction and educational books from 2002 to 2006. It is clear that the number of children's books sold increased, while the opposite was true for adult fiction and educational books. In addition, children's books were the top-selling books among the three kinds of books. In 2002, over 40 million dollars in total revenue of adult fiction was recorded, which was followed by sales of children's books and educational books with 32 and 25 million respectively. By 2003, the data showed many variations. The sales figure of children's books had a tendency to climb up by 10 million dollars, similarly, the same pattern was seen in educational books (a rise of 6 million dollars). By contrast, there was a drop of 7 million dollars in the sale of adult fiction in 2003. From 2003 towards, children's books were still sold in the largest quantity and then reached the peak of 55 million dollars in 2006. Additionally, a slight rise to 40 million before dropping by 10 million dollars was seen in the number of adult fiction sold. Meanwhile, the sale of educational books showed an opposing trend to that of adult fiction and got 32 million dollars 3 years later.
