The two line graphs enumerate enrolments and total number of local and overseas students in Australian universities from 2001 to 2010.
At first glance, it is obvious that total number of local students is far higher than the number of overseas students in Australia. Regarding enrolments to universities, there is a constant rise in number of overseas students, and number of local students remains almost the same throughout 10 year period.
In 2001, around 10, 000 overseas students commenced universities, similarly, around 15, 000 local students commenced the university in the same year. Regading overseas students, a continuous growth in numbers can be seen throughout the ten year period when it reaches its peak of 40, 000 enrolment of overseas students. Number of local students, however, reaches its peak in 2002 with just over 20, 000 enrolment, and for the rest of the period it remains at approximately 20, 000 enrolments.
Total number of local students iin 2001 was 40, 000 which is exactly double the total number of overseas students. Total number of overseas students rose significantly over the following years, reaching 80, 000 in 2010, whereas total number of local students rose up to 60, 000 in 2007 after which it remains the same until 2010.
