The line graph depicts information about the number of divorces and marriages over a period of 25 years in the UK. Overall, the total number of marriages increased while the proportion of first marriages reduced in the given period. However, there were about 500, 000 marriages during 1975 in the UK. This gradually rose to figure 650, 000 in 1985 and dropped down to 580, 000 marriages in 2000. Besides, the figures for first marriages fluctuated in the mentioned time period. Although the number is about 340, 000 in 1975 it gradually increased to near about 400, 000 in 1985 and decreased steadily in the consecutive years and hit to 300, 000 marriages in the year 2000.
