The given graph illustrates the percentage of various recycled materials between 1982 and 2010 in one specific country.
Overall, it can be seen that the proprtion of plastics, aluminium cans and glass containers and paper cardboard increased during the period.
In 1982 paper and cardboard had the highest recycling rate and stood at 65 per cent. Despite the modest fluctuation, it reached its peak at 80 per cent in 1994. Although in the next 16 years this category experienced a slight decrease, it held the highest proportion with 70 per cent in 2010.
As for three other categories, they all demonstrated growth. The recycling of glass containers grew by 10 per cent from 50 per cent in 1982 to 60 per cent in 2010. Aluminium cans and plastics were not recycled until 1986 and 1990 respectively. While the recycling of aluminium cans showed the most considerable increase from less than 5 per cent in 1986 to 45 per cent in 2010, these figures for the recycling of plastics were significantly lower with 5 per cent in 1990 and about 10 per cent in 2010.
