The graph below shows the consumption of 3 spreads from 1981 to 2007.

The graph illustrates the changes in the consumption of margarine, butter and low fat spreads, from 1981 to 2007. The consumption in grams is given along the y- axis and the years are mentioned along the x-axis. Overall, the line graph shows the usage of different kinds of spreads from 1987 to 2007. The green line indicates the consumption of butter over the years, which as shown by the graph was maximum in early 1980s (160 grams) and then declined over the years. However, among the three spreads, margarine; shown by the blue line had a stable consumption rate till 2000 but later its usage decreased and was the least used spread among the three mentioned spreads in 2007. The red line indicates the usage of low fat and reduced spreads, in grams. It is evident from the graph that the low fat and reduced spreads were not in demand at all before the late 1990s. Their sales increased sharply in 1996 and peaked in 2001, later the consumption of these spreads declined but they were still among the most used spreads till 2007.
